Nagakura is also a pleasant stop for people who enjoy pairing food with drinks. The restaurant serves alcohol and beer, which works perfectly for relaxed lunches, casual dinners, or quiet evenings after sightseeing around Karuizawa. Having a cold beer alongside a flavorful meal adds to the laid-back mood that the restaurant naturally creates. Because the setting feels calm and authentic, it becomes easy to spend extra time chatting, unwinding, and enjoying the slower pace that makes this part of Japan so appealing.

Located at 606-2 Karuizawa, Kitasaku District, Nagano 389-0102, Japan, Nagakura offers visitors a comfortable restaurant experience that blends local charm, convenient dining options, and a relaxed atmosphere in one of Nagano’s most scenic areas.

Best find in Karuizawa!! We didn’t want the usual fare of tempura and soba and accidentally chanced upon this homey place selling kamameshi - the owners will notify you in advance that it’ll take 20 minutes to prep, but that means you’re getting freshly cooked rice in a pot!! They were so welcoming and attentive to our needs, and the food was absolutely delicious. The soba was nicely seasoned with sesame seeds, giving that nutty bite with the slurpy noodles, and the kamimeshi was so perfectly cooked and abundant with ingredients. Totally worth a visit if you’re in the area!!

There were 2 ladies manning this restaurant. One of them gave us a very warm welcome and directing us to a table for 2. She gave us a basket each for our knapsack and was very helpful with our choice of meal to choose from. Though my friend couldn't get the chicken set but we chose the crab and the prawn set. The side dishes of cold soba and pickled vegetables came first. Lovely soba. Finished them before the main dish came. And it came hot in a tub. The rice was so warm and delicious and added the seafood on top made the rice so sumptuous. The dessert was mochi and when you bit it, the inside was so tasty, a sweet melon flavour. So good! I liked this shop a lot as it's off the main road and it's authentically japanese, unlike those restaurants on the main road were mostly and I think 90% were serving Western food.

Soba, wasabi and mochi came first. Main dish will come after.
